GILGIT: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) awarded death penalty to two accused for killing Zafar Iqbal, a famous local footballer.
The decision was handed down by justice Raja Shehbaz Khan of ATC at Gilgit on Tuesday.
Adnan Hussain was given death penalty and also sentenced to seven years imprisonment and a fine of Rs 0.3 million.
The court sentenced life imprisonment to another accused Abdar Abbas in the same case. They can file an appeal in the higher judiciary against the decision with one weak.
Zafar Iqbal was a famous footballer in Gilgit. He was shot in the head and killed in 2014 while he was on his way to home in Gilgit.
