GILGIT: Member Gilgit – Baltistan [G-B] Council, Amjad Husain has said there would be no political deadlock after the end of the tenure of incumbent government as a summary for the formation of an interim step has been sent to the prime minister.
He said some elements were creating confusion that there would be a political impasse with the expiry of the tenure of the government but said that wouldn’t happen.
Taking to Outpost by phone, Hussain said that the political and constitutional status of Gilgit-Baltistan would be determined very soon.
The people of Gilgit-Baltistan should not be deprived of their basic right any more, said the politician, adding Pakistan Peoples Party [PPP] is of the view that the legislative assembly of Gilgit-Baltistan should be given more powers.
He said that he had been making efforts in this direction since long so that the people of area could be empowered enough to run their affairs without interference from outside.
