GILGIT: Police chief continues to hold meetings to ensure peaceful culmination of Muharram in Gilgit – Baltistan (G-B).
In this connection, Capt (Retd) Zafar Iqbal Awan chaired an important meeting in CPO on Saturday to discuss the security of upcomming month, a press release issued from the police department read.
The IGP asked police to launched a campaign for arrest of Proclaimed Offenders, Court Absconders and Military Deserters. He also directed staff to improve security of Chinese and all foreigners whose safety IGP said is very important. “Priority must be given to the Chinese nationals working on KKH, other Projects and foreigners,” said the IGP in the meeting which was also attended by all the DIsG Ranges and district SSsP in G-B.
The DIsG & SSsP briefed the IGP regarding security measures taken by them. The IGP said code of conduct shall be implemented in its letter and spirit. All Entry and Exit points should be manned properly and be checked as per SOPs. Inter district communication shall be improved. Police patrolling in the city should be increased and conducted round the clock. Writ of the Government should be maintained. Any violations should be strictly dealt with.
The IGP said National Action Plan is the most important of all and shall be implemented in all districts, adding the district SSsP should hold meetings with mohalla peace committees and Masajid board members and keep close liaison with them.
Range DIsG have also briefed the IGP regarding present situation of Law and Order in their respective Ranges.
