GILGIT: The annual firing exercise session for police personnel was held at the firing range at Sakwar Gilgit the other day.
All personnel of G-B police stationed at Gilgit on Wednesday carried out the firing which was supervised by the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Captain(R) Zafar Iqbal Awan.
In first phase of the training session, personnel of district police of Gilgit, Police Training College, Crimes Branch and Central Police Office participated. While the remaining branches or units will also participate in the ongoing training session.
Speaking on the occasion the police chief said the aim of this classification firing was to sharpen the firing skills of policemen in different calibers of weapons to enable them to counter terrorists and anti-social elements timely and effectively.
Muharram security plan
The IGP also visited Imambargahs and mosques and routes of Muharram processions to chalk out a comprehensive security plan for the month of Muharram. This visit was made to ensure foolproof security during Muharram processions on 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th of the Islamnic month.
The IGP also visited different Imambargahs in Amphary, Majini Muhallah, Khomar and Jama Imamia Mosque Puniyal road Gilgit in which religious gatherings would be convened in the month. He also examined traditional routes on which the Muharram processions will be taken out on Ashura day.
The Police Chief directed all DIGs and SsP of the districts to chalk out comprehensive security plan and submit before by Saturday.
