GILGIT: Inspector general police [IGP] captain (Retd) Zafar Iqbal Awan has directed the DIGs to adopt extra ordinary measures ahead of Eid and in view of the terrorist incidents took place elsewhere in the country.
The police chief has directed all concerned to take precautionary measures to ward off chances of any untoward incident during Eid-ul-Azha,” said a press release.
“Walk through gates will also be setup in Eidgahs. Similarly entry and exit points in all districts will be strictly supervised.” Besides the police chief made a general appeal to the public in this regard.
The security on KKH and Baboser road will also been heightened to ensure passengers remain secure while travelling. Police at CPO will monitor the security situation in all districts.
A monthly meeting with the members of masajid board was held at CPO. It was presided over by IGP captain (R) Zafar Iqbal Awan to review the performance of the committee that has a key role in bringing peace in the region.
“The police chief was pleased to the working of members of the masajid board and appreciated their commitment and zeal for peace,” said the press release.
The police chief appreciated that personal enmities and vendettas have turned into lasting friendship due to efforts from Masajid Board.
The members of the masjid board also assured their cooperation with the police department in future.
Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Speaker of G-B legislative assembly Mr Jaffer Ullah Khan said that every step would be taken to maintain peace in the region. “To settle the issues, members of masjid board will continue to play their constructive role.”
During the course of the meeting the members of the masjid board drew IGP’s attention to some issues which IGP assured them to resolve.
