GILGIT: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has increased Gilgit – Baltistan chief minister’s ceiling which will enable him to implement development project up to 750 million in the region.
“Previously G-B chief minister had powers to implement projects up to 400 million only,” said chief minister while talking to journalists at his office late Monday.
The decision was made by Nawaz Sharif on Monday after he was briefed by Hafeezur Rahman about issues being faced by the regional government. Sharif visited Gilgit where he inaugurated road alignment project implemented by China at Attabad, Hunza.
“The low ceiling would cause delay in project costing more than 40 million as Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) was the ultimate forum to decide the fate of the suggested project,” he said, adding the decision will help speed up projects in G-B where development remained stagnant during the five years of previous government of PPP.
