GILGIT: A security plan was devised ahead of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s visit to the region.
The plan was devised and supervised in a meeting, held in CPO and was chaired by Inspector General of Police Captain ( R ) Zafar Iqbal Awan, on Saturday. Prime Minister of Pakistan, Muhammad Nawaz Sharif is schedule to visit Gilgit-Baltistan this week to inaugurate Atabad lake tunnel constructed by a Chinese company.
The meeting was attended by DIG HQ Inam-ur-Rahman, DIG Gilgit Range Gohar Nafees, SSP Gilgit, AIG SB, AIG Operations, SP Hunza-Nagar, AIG Establishment, SP KKSF, Commandant ARP and Commandant PTC.
“The police officers briefed the IGP regarding security measures to be undertaken for the protection of VVIP,” read a press release.”The IGP directed SSP Gilgit, AIG SB and SP Hunza-Nagar to ensure foolproof security during visit of VVIP.”
The police has also been put on high alert throughout the region, increasing patrolling and checking of suspicious vehicles and persons at various places.
