GILGIT: Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) Gilgit-Baltistan has provided relief to 154 families of Baltistan division. The families had been affected by recent floods and other natural disasters.
According to a press release issued by the PRCS Provincial Headquarter Gilgit, the relief packages included family tents, blankets, tarpaulin sheets, water canes, hygiene kits, kitchen sets, oil stoves, hurricane lamps and other domestic usage items which have been distributed among the victims of disaster in village Nargoro of Shigar, Kuwardu Skardu and Karawathang, Kharku, Daag Balgar, Thalay, Keris and Ghursay valley of the Ghanche district.
“PRCS Provincial Disaster Management Manager Shafiq Ahmed and Secretary PRCS Skardu District Branch Muhammad Baqir Haji along with PRCS volunteers visited the disaster affected areas and distributed the relief packages to the victims in light with a pre-assessment report” read the press release.
“Relief goods have been provided to the affectees on the request of divisional and district administrations of Baltistan division” said PRCS Provincial Secretary Noor-ul-Ain, adding that PRCS plays its role as an auxiliary body to the government in humanitarian services.
She said that the PRCS has also provided relief to 26 flood affected families in village Oshikhandas of Gilgit district. A request letter for provision of relief for 200 more disaster affected families of district Ghizer and Diamer has been moved to the PRCS National Headquarters Islamabad based on assessment reports and response is awaited, she added.
