CHILAS: Former minister works, Bashir Ahmed, who was a senior leader of PML-Q defected to Pakistan Peoples Party on Wednesday.
Ahmed’s shifting of allegiance means PML-Q has lost its presence in the region. Earlier the two PML-Q senior leaders – Amina Ansari and Mirza Hussain - defected to Pakistan Tehrik Insaaf.
Ahmed announced his joining in a ceremony in Chilas, headquarter of Diamer valley.
“PPP is close to my heart and I will put in my energies to see the party through in the upcoming polls,” said Ahmed, who started his career from PML-N. In Musharraf government he was one of the many to join the dictator’s party, PML-Q. However as a result of former president Zardar’s ‘policy of reconciliation’, he was able to get the portfolio of minister works in previous government of G-B led by PPP.
