GILGIT: Chief Secretary Gilgit-Baltistan Tahir Hussain on Wednesday visited Central Police Office, where he was briefed about the overall security plan of Gilgit – Baltistan [G-B] ahead of polls.
On his arrival, the Inspector General of Police Gilgit-Baltistan Captain (R) Zafar Iqbal Awan and other senior police officers welcomed the respectable guest. Guard of honor was also accorded in his honour.
The Chief Secretary, IGP and others laid flowers wreath on the memorial of G-B Police ‘Shuhada’ and offered Fatiha. Later on, a meeting was held wherein the Inspector General of Police Gilgit-Baltistan briefed the Chief Secretary on the security arrangements made to ensure peace in the up-coming general elections in the region.
The Chief Secretary expressed his satisfaction on the security arrangement. At the end, the IGP G-B presented a shield to the Chief Secretary.
After the meeting, both the officers visited the Chinese camps at Sonikot and Jutial and inspected the security arrangements. They also visited Police Public School & College Sakwar and under-construction Police Colony Sakwar. The Chief Secretary expressed his dissatisfaction on the pace of work of the ongoing police projects. -- PR
