GILGIT: Governor Gilgit – Baltistan [G-B] Barjees Tahir on Saturday said announced a grant of one million rupees for press club and Rs20 million for construction of press clubs buildings in various districts f G-B.
The governor made the announcement at Gilgit Press Club where he administered oath to Tariq Shah and the cabinet members who recently got elected. Shah was elected as president press club in the elections held last month.
Addressing the ceremony also attended by ministers of the caretaker government and president of PML-N Hafeez-ur-Rahman, Tahir announced a grant of Rs one million for press club. He also announced Rs20 million for construction of press clubs buildings in Gilgit, Skardu, Chilas, Ghizer and Hunza-Nagar.
Tahir said they will make sure the tenders are issued within a month.
Earlier Tariq Shah spoke about difficulties being faced by journalists in Gilgit, which is capital of G-B. Talking to Outpost he said elections were round the corner while press club was lacking equipment required to facilitate national and foreign journalists who visit the region to cover elections.
