GILGIT: Tahir Ali Shah, chief election commissioner Gilgit – Baltistan [G-B] on Sunday said he wasn’t consulted over finalization of election date as claimed by the interim chief minister a day earlier.
“No, I wasn’t consulted. This is wrong,” Shah told reporters in his office on Friday, in clear reference to caretaker CM Sher Jehan Mir’s statement that said CEC was duly consulted before finalizing June 8 as election date.
“The interim chief minister hasn’t visited my office even once,” he complained.
But being a son of soil its my duty to ensure polls are conducted timely and transparently and sufficient measures have been taken in this regard, he told Outpost. He thanked governor and FCNA for providing support in his efforts to hold elections.
He talked about measures taken by his office exclusively over the weeks to narrow down chances for rigging in the upcoming elections.
