GILGIT: Government on Tuesday suspended principal and two three lectures of Government Degree College where clashes between student groups left three people injured a day earlier.
According to a statement from Information Department Gilgit, principal Sarbaz Khan, lecturer Fida Hussain, lecturer Amir Jan Haqani and Munawar were suspended on the orders from chief secretary Sikandar Sultan Raja. The students involved in the violence would also be proceeded against, added the statement.
The clash had erupted between two the groups of students over holding a religious programme on the premises of the Government Degree College Jutial. Both the groups belong to two religious organisations.
To prevent further violence, the administration also closed the college for a week. In addition religious leaders are being consulted to settle the issue amicably.
